Congratulations — you have successfully installed Booke. Now let’s take a quick look at creating quote bookmarks.
Creating Your First Bookmark
Booke can store many different types of content. Whether it’s a text note you write yourself, a portion of a book page that you’d like to save or a picture you want to connect with your favorite excerpt, Booke knows how to handle it. With that in mind, let’s create your first bookmark. The most common is a simple quote.
Creating a bookmark by voice
Use voice command: BOOKMARK ON PAGE [page number] FROM [initial phrase — up to 2 words] TO [end phrase — up to 2 words] In your printed book you’ve come across a moving or intriguing passage. Save it or add a note, a picture or a link to it. Select the companion to the book from the Booke Library. Open the companion in the Booke app, tap microphone icon on the menu at the bottom of the page and tell the app: BOOKMARK ON PAGE NINETEEN FROM “WHITE CLOAK” TO “PONTIUS PILATE”.
Creating a bookmark by touch
Open the book companion in the Booke Library, then tap “+” icon at the top right corner of the page or tap & hold on the page within the text.
It’s as simple as that. If you like, you can add a picture or a video or a text note — all of these options are available in the toolbar near to the bookmark body. Now it's time to decide if you share the bookmark with other readers (tap to open the padlock at the bottom of the page) or keep it private (tap to close the padlock). Once you’re finished choose “Done” icon. Booke will save your new bookmark. Should you need to change the existing bookmark — go to edit mode by choosing a pencil near a circle in an individual bookmark view.

There are many other ways to customize your bookmark (adding images, videos, links), but this is a good start. Now, let's see how easy it is to add images to Booke.
Adding Your First Image
Booke is a great tool for linking all kinds of contextual information, not just text, with the excerpts of the books. From funny illustrations of your favorite scenes or characters to the photographs of the corresponding places, and the diagrams or visualizations, Booke makes it extremely simple to link all kinds of images to the excerpts of your books.
Let’s say you have an image file on your smartphone that you’d like to link with the excerpt of a book. Open the book companion in the Booke Library, then tap “+” icon at the top of the page or press & hold on the page, identify an excerpt on the page of the book for your first image bookmark, and choose „Add media” icon and then “Picture”. That’s it!

Now that we’ve learned how to link images to excerpts, let’s take a look at how Booke makes them (and all of your other bookmarks) available to others.
Private and Public Bookmarks
While Booke is immensely useful as a reading companion, its true power lies in its ability to share your bookmarks with others. This allows you not only to create and come back to your reading memories but also to follow the reading activity of your friends or mentors, discover their favorite passages and read their personal footnotes, notes or comments.
